[Shuji did not do anything weird while he was in his crush's house without supervision. He didn't even poke around, just watched a little TV, which he promptly turns off when he hears Mista call out.]

Living room!

[He makes an acknowledging noise and heads into the living room, where he leans on the doorframe and grins at Shuji.]

Hey. You been waiting long?

[...Oh, he really looks cute in that outfit. Uh.]

Half an hour, no big deal. How was work?

Mm, pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Everybody's talking about bingo. Clients were good, tips good, I'm awesome, everything's coming up . . . what day is it. Friday? Everything's coming up Friday.

[He jerks his chin, gesturing down the hall.]

You wanna come see my darkest secret? [that's not what the card says mista] 'S in my room.

Sure! That's why I came. I mean, I always like visiting you and I definitely don't need bingo to do that, but specifically this time that's why I came...

[why would he be nervous]

. . . Uh, okay.

[Why is Shuji being weird. What . . . is going on.]

[Well. Presumably Shuji will tell him if something is off? Presumably. He shoots Shuji a slightly worried look and then shrugs and makes his way to his minimally-furnished and mostly-clean room. He doesn't go anywhere near the bed, though, Shuji--instead he heads to his dresser and takes down a simple wooden picture frame.]

[He looks at the picture in it for a moment, smiling a little, and then holds it out to Shuji.]

Just don't drop it, okay?

[The picture is of a smiling woman sitting in the sun. Her smile is the same as--identical to--Mista's smile.]

[At least Shuji's weirdness abates when he sees what Mista's most precious belonging is. He's careful when he takes the photo from Mista's hands, looking it over silently for a moment before speaking again, softly.]

This is... your mother?

Yeah. You can tell, huh?

[He's proud. Like, really proud. He looks like his mom, the coolest person in the world, which makes him super cool by association.]

I don't get to talk to her much anymore. So this picture--it's way out of date. But it's the best picture in the fuckin' world.

--Scusa, Mamma. [REFLEX]

[Mista is cool by his own merits - but Shuji's sure that she's amazing, because she raised an amazing person.

He doesn't want to say something trite like 'you must miss her a lot', when he's well aware of exactly why they can't talk much. So, instead...]

You're right, it's the best picture. Way better than your boss in toast, even.

[Still beaming. Mista! loves! his! mama!!]

It's kinda nice to share it, though. To let somebody else see, I mean.

[After another moment, Shuji holds the picture back out to Mista.]

Thank you for lending me your treasured possession.

'Course. You know I trust you with my shit.

[He presses a kiss to his fingers, then to the photo, before putting it back on the dresser.]

I think she'd like you, you know, [he says with a grin, before heading back down the hall into the living room.]

[MISTA'S MOTHER WOULD LIKE HIM

Shuji's stunned, and takes a moment too long to follow after Mista to the living room. His face isn't that red, hopefully...]

So, so, do you need my help with anything?

[change of subject please]

[It's okay, Shuji. The subject will be changed, trust and believe.]

Yeah, actually. I figured out one thing you could help me with on the card. The middle square.

[And from under a pillow, he pulls out . . . a water gun. Which, when he turns on his heel to face Shuji, is aimed squarely at his chest.]

Put 'em up.

[And he solemnly pulls the trigger. Squirt.]

[Mista, he's dressed too nicely for that! ...is what he would say if he was ever not dressed nicely.

Instead he puts up his hands in mock-surrender when he gets squirted. ...what else do you do if you don't have a water fun of your own.]

I could never stand a chance against you, Sheriff Mista.

[Ah, but--]

Betcha could.

[From under that same pillow, he pulls a second water gun and tosses it at Shuji. Less solemn now. This is silly and he likes it.]

It's not a water gun fight unless you fight back.

[Less solemn, more fun.]

I accept your challenge to a duel!

[He only waits until 'challenge' to start squirting water at him, because he doesn't play fair.]

Uhurrrgh!

[Immediately he clutches his chest, drops the water gun, lurches forward, and crumples to his knees on the living room floor. Wheezing dramatically, he topples onto his hands and lifts his head to glare up at Shuji. It isn't the best glare, though, since he's still grinning.]

Scoundrel . . . ruffian . . . varmint . . . you can't put Sheriff Mista down so easy!

[And he dramatically, unnecessarily rolls to pick up the water gun and shoot it at Shuji. His aim is awesome, incidentally.]

[It's hard not to grin when he and Mista are being this silly. Even though they're probably going to mess up the carpet in here and Shuji's got a big wet spot on his shirt.]

You'll never take me alive! I always knew this day would come, Mista!

[Taking another shot of water while he's still on the ground.]

You'd shoot a man when he's down, eh, coward!

[Mista claws his way across the floor. Ooh, argh. Hurgh. With the last of his strength, he shoots Shuji in the pant leg.]

My ghost will haunt you . . . and your children . . . and your children's children . . . Sheriff Mista will never . . . leave . . . your . . . side . . .

[And then he flops down on the carpet with his tongue dramatically sticking out. Dead now.]

[Shuji crosses his hand over his heart. The one not holding the water gun, in case Mista starts moving again.]

I never had a more worthy opponent than you, Sheriff Mista.

[Mista gives a thumbs up, then goes back to being dead for a minute before propping his chin up in his hands.]

I think that's good, don't you? It was a super good fight. Big drama.

Cinematic. I'd give it five stars for the climactic fight scene of a Western.

[Shuji flops down on the floor next to him.]

Oh, hey there.

[He leans to the side a little to bump Shuji with his shoulder. Big grin.]

At least five stars. Maybe six outta five stars. We better get our big payout soon.

I'm expecting an Oscar nomination. For a supporting role, obviously, you're the lead actor.

[He doesn't mind being second if it's Mista who's first.]
